We are delighted to invite you to a special Open House event at Tottenham Cemetery, where you’ll have the chance to explore the stunning Victorian chapel, built in 1858, and learn about the rich history that has shaped our community.
Date: Sunday 22nd September 2024
Time: 1pm – 4pm
Free entry (plus free tea and cake!)
This event is part of Open House, an annual festival celebrating the city’s architecture and heritage. During the festival, many historic and unique buildings across London, usually closed to the public, open their doors for free. Tottenham Cemetery’s chapel is one of these gems, offering a rare chance to step inside and admire its glorious Gothic design, which has stood at the heart of the cemetery for over 160 years.
As part of the event, you’ll not only get to admire the chapel’s architecture but also discover the fascinating stories connected to it. Tottenham Cemetery, a peaceful and green haven in our bustling borough, holds many tales from the past, reflecting the area’s transformation from a quiet rural idyll to the vibrant urban community it is today.
This Open House event is not only a chance to appreciate the architecture but also to connect with the Friends of Tottenham Cemetery, a passionate group dedicated to preserving the heritage and tranquility of this historic space. Whether you’ve lived here for years or are new to the area, we invite you to come along, meet the Friends, and learn more about their important work.
We’ll be serving FREE tea and cake throughout the event, so you can enjoy a cuppa while soaking in the stories of Tottenham’s past.
