Seventeen memorials at Tottenham Cemetery were deliberately damaged last week in what has been described as a deeply disrespectful and distressing incident.

The damage has caused significant concern among families and members of the local community who visit the cemetery to pay their respects to loved ones.

According to information provided by the cemetery management, the Police attended the scene following the incident and an individual was arrested in connection with the damage. It has since been confirmed that charges have been brought against the suspect.

The affected memorials include a number of older graves. In some cases, the registered owners of the graves are themselves deceased, making it difficult for cemetery staff to immediately identify and contact surviving relatives.

As a result, notices are being placed next to the affected graves asking family members, relatives or anyone with a connection to the graves to contact the cemetery team.
