November Litter Pick Day Results – Around Tottenham Cemetery

On 2nd of November, we carried out our November litter pick around Tottenham Cemetery.

With the leaves now gone and the vegetation much thinner, we were finally able to reach some areas that are usually blocked during the summer months. This allowed us to remove quite a bit of long-forgotten rubbish hidden beneath the overgrowth.

All the collected bags and items have been left in and around the bins near the cemetery, ready for safe collection. We’ve asked the maintenance team to take extra care when handling these, as some bags contain glass bottles, and there’s also a heavy moped engine among the finds.

Here’s what we gathered:

  • 5 bags packed with bottles, cans and other litter
  • 1 duvet
  • 1 sleeping bag
  • 1 carpet
  • 1 metal bucket
  • 1 washing bowl
  • 1 small metal rack
  • 1 children’s toy car
  • 1 extremely rusted old classic motorbike/moped, buried under years of vegetation (including its battery). It’s so corroded that it’s hard to tell its make or age, but it’s likely been there for over 15 years.
  • Plus, one unrelated motorbike helmet (forgot to snap a photo!).

The litter pick takes place monthly, on the first Sunday of each month.

We meet in front of Bruce Castle Museum at 2 pm.
All the necessary equipment is provided.
The session is followed by tea and cake in the Museum from 3 to 4 pm.

Organised by Friends of Tottenham Cemetery and Friends of Bruce Castle Park.
